Web Client – General issues
What happens when the user starts the web client?
The web client will be downloaded in the background to the local computer and automatically started. It doesn’t
need to be installed. The first time the web client is started the size of the downloaded files is about 5 Mb. This
information is stored in the cache and the next time the user starts the client (from the same web page) a check is
made to see if there is a new version, if not the cached information will be used and no additional download is
needed.
Does it support other platform than Windows? Yes, there is multiple
platforms supported, see System Requirements for more information.
The user says he has previously been running the web client but when he wants to start he
cannot find the installed program?
The Web Client is not installed as an application on the
user’s computer and has no installed program visible in the start menu (example from Windows). It has to be started
from the web page.
Security – How is the web client executed?
The web based poker client uses a signed applet which lets the applet act just like the downloadable poker client
after the user has agreed to trust the signed code.
Are there functions not present in the web client that exists in the
downloadable client?
It is not possible to save passwords with the web based client. Also, it is not possible to save user notes when
using the web client
Is the Java Virtual Machine automatically downloaded?
If a user does not have a Java Virtual Machine (JRE) installed and he/she is using a browser named in the System
Requirements, they will be redirected to a download page where they can obtain the JRE. We have seen problems with
certain versions of browsers that have problem with this functionality so we recommend the user in the System
Requirements to have Java (jre) installed before running the web client
Are there any problems with firewalls etc?
If the user has a firewall it has to be configured in the same way as the normal client.
Are the client automatically updated when B2B makes a new release?
Yes, Updates will be automatically distributed to the clients. Usually the user will need to restart his browser to
apply the update.
What are the System Requirements for the web client?
